Probably not. The Council of Ephesus , (year 431 AD) on the basis of strong popular pressures that demanded by the absence of female deities in Christianity, proclaimed Mary "Mother of God." This reassuring and superstitious reverence filled the void left by the various goddesses of pagan religion.
