Nal 1311 AD baptism by sprinkling of children is made legal by the Council of Ravenna . The early Christians baptized only adults, because the baptism was a mere symbolic rite of rebirth, suitable to stress the 'initiation' of converts.
Jesus not invited people to make religious rites, but to change their lives, to discover the Kingdom of God in their hearts, not in ceremonies or formalities.
